SAN DIEGO-Best cupcake of my life! I've had plenty of cupcakes in my life but nothing could ever compare to this cupcake from Pure Cupcakes. The cupcake I chose was called Rol-e-ol-ee-o, it's similar to Rolos but so much better.

Rol-e-ol-ee-o consists of:

-a chocolate cupcake

-cream cheese frosting

-a hidden surprise of caramel

-a chocolate ganache hard shell on top

The combination of caramel and cream cheese is a mixture I had never tasted before and I'm sorry I lived my whole life without it! If that description doesn't convince you of the amazing quality of these

cupcakes then you can just look at all their awards.

Pure Cupcakes won Cupcake Wars, a program run by Food Network, in 2013. Pure Cupcakes was founded in 2009 by best friends Mary Sarain and Nikki Black. Their family-friendly business has a stylish and sophisticated environment.

I spoke with an employee at the store and she stated that the owners and the other employees were extremely kind. Some of the employees bake the cupcakes and others decorate them. From the inside of the store you can see directly into the kitchen, where all these delicious cupcakes are created. The employee I spoke with also mentioned how all the recipes are originally made by the bakers. My cupcake was truly unique!

The name Pure Cupcakes comes from the fact that they "are committed to using only the freshest & finest ingredients...fresh cream, sweet butter, Belgian chocolates, spices, fruits & home-made curds" (purecupcakes.com). Using fresh ingredients, guarantees an amazing product.

You may be thinking with pure ingredients, friendly staff, and a hip environment, it must mean that the cupcakes cost a fortune. You're wrong! Their standard flavors (chocolate, vanilla, red velvet) are only $2.75. Their specialty cupcakes, like the one I ate, are $3.25. This is cheaper for your sweet tooth than a Starbucks Frappuccino.

If you still aren't convinced already into buying a dozen of these delicious treats, maybe their location will persuade you. Situated in Pacific Beach, you can walk along Crystal Pier while devouring your heavenly cupcake.

A message from the owners:
